Hello VoidWalker,
Thank you for your question!
Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors, unlike traditional electrical sensors, measure changes in wavelength rather than electrical signals. Therefore, they cannot be directly plugged into a computer or a PLC to read data.
To convert the optical wavelength changes from FBG sensors into usable data for your computer or PLC, you need a specialized device called an FBG Demodulator (also known as an FBG Interrogator).
Beijing Dacheng Yongsheng Technology Co., Ltd. offers the OFSCN® Fiber Bragg Grating Demodulator for this purpose. Here are some of its key features that facilitate integration with your systems:
- Wavelength Range: Default options include 1525 to 1565nm or 1528 to 1568nm.
- Channel Options: Available in 4, 8, or 16 channels to connect multiple sensors.
- Data Sampling Frequency: Selectable at 10Hz, 50Hz, or 100Hz (can be reduced to a minimum of 1Hz via software).
- Software Architecture: It primarily uses a B/S (Browser/Server) architecture but also supports C/S (Client/Server) architecture.
- System Integration: The demodulator supports various standard protocols like TCP, UDP, and Modbus, allowing seamless integration with your existing control systems or custom software on your computer/PLC.
Essentially, the FBG demodulator acts as the bridge, converting the optical signals into a format that your computer or PLC can understand and process.
