Welcome to the OFSCN® official forum. I am the pre-sales engineer responsible for technical inquiries regarding our fiber sensing technologies.
The OFSCN® Femtosecond Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBG) and FBG Strings represent a high-end category of fiber optic sensors manufactured using point-by-point laser writing technology. Unlike traditional ultraviolet (UV) holographic methods, the femtosecond laser process allows for the creation of gratings directly through the fiber coating (such as polyimide) without stripping it, which significantly preserves the mechanical strength of the optical fiber.
Key Technical Advantages:
- Extreme Temperature Resistance: Depending on the fiber coating, these gratings can operate in environments ranging from cryogenic temperatures to high-temperature zones (up to 800°C or higher with specialized fibers).
- High Mechanical Strength: Since the coating is not removed during the writing process, the tensile strength of the FBG is nearly identical to that of the original bare fiber, making it ideal for high-strain applications.
- Flexible Customization: We support customization of center wavelengths, reflectivity, and the number of sensing points on a single “FBG String.”
- Point-by-Point Precision: This method ensures high physical stability of the grating structure within the fiber core.
