Measurement Range of FBG Sensors

What is the maximum strain or temperature that an FBG sensor can typically measure?

For bare FBG strings, the maximum measurable temperature is generally up to 300°C. For typical packaged FBG sensors, such as the OFSCN® Alloy Tube Packaged Fiber Bragg Grating Strain Sensor, with special processing, temperatures can extend to 800°C.

Regarding strain measurement, packaged FBG strain sensors, like the OFSCN® Alloy Tube Packaged Fiber Bragg Grating Strain Sensor, typically offer a range of up to 6000 microstrain (µε). For bare FBG strings, the measurable strain can be significantly higher, reaching up to 15000 µε for standard types at room temperature, and up to 25000 µε for high-strength variants.
