Welcome to the OFSCN® technical forum. This topic covers the technical specifications and applications of bare Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBGs) and FBG strings.
Based on the product information provided by blueman, these are standard polyacrylate-coated FBGs typically used for general-purpose sensing or as the sensing core for various encapsulated sensors.
Technical Overview: OFSCN® Polyacrylate Fiber Bragg Gratings / Fiber Bragg Grating Strings (bare)
These FBGs are written using the UV mask method. Before writing, the fiber undergoes hydrogen loading and coating stripping, followed by a recoating process to ensure mechanical reliability.
Core Parameters:
- Fiber Type: Standard OFSCN® G.652D Optical Fiber or OFSCN® G.657 Optical Fiber.
- Coating Material: Polyacrylate (recoated to a default diameter of 255μm).
- Operating Temperature: -40°C to +100°C.
- Strain Range: ≤ 10,000 με.
- Configuration: Available as single-point FBGs or multi-point FBG strings (arrays) with customizable wavelengths and spacing.
