UV Aging Experiments for Fiber Sensors

What is the embrittlement cycle for non-metallic packaging under long-term UV exposure?

Our knowledge base does not contain specific data on the embrittlement cycle for non-metallic packaging of fiber sensors under long-term UV exposure in an application environment.

However, for non-metallic (polymer) encapsulated Fiber Bragg Gratings, their operational limits are typically defined by factors including temperature tolerance, which can indirectly relate to their long-term stability under various environmental stresses like UV.

For example, our OFSCN® Polyacrylate Fiber Bragg Gratings / Fiber Bragg Grating Strings (bare) have a usable temperature range of -40℃ to 100℃.
And our OFSCN® Polyimide Fiber Bragg Gratings / Fiber Bragg Grating Strings (bare) offer a wider temperature range of -200℃ to 300℃. Polyimide, due to its chemical structure, generally exhibits better resistance to UV radiation compared to polyacrylate.
